As a Medical Assistant, you are the liaison between medical professionals, doctors, pharmacists, insurance companies, and patients. This comprehensive 160-hour program prepares students to perform clinical tasks and functions to keep healthcare facilities running smoothly.
Through classroom lectures and hands-on labs, this program prepares students to assist physicians with administrative and clinical responsibilities in a medical office. Administrative duties may include answering telephones, greeting patients, calling in prescriptions to a pharmacy, and the use of EHRgo for transcribing, scheduling, etc.
Clinical duties may include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing patients, assisting the physician during examinations, pediatric care, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, and surgical instruments.
Other duties may include instructing patients in regards to procedures, preparing and administering medications as directed by the physician, preparing patients for exams, electrocardiograms, assisting minor surgeries.
